History of the Free Souls MC
Free Souls MC was founded in 1968 in Eugene, Oregon, by motorcyclists passionate about the Harley Davidson motorcycle brand. The gang’s headquarters and clubhouse are still located in the same city. From its inception to the present day, the club has evolved and built a fine reputation.
The Motorcycle Club Free Souls is considered one of the most notorious and dangerous motorcycle gangs in the USA. Like the Hells Angels, the Bandidos, the Mongols or the Chosen Few, this biker club inspires both fear and respect from the general public and the motorcycle world. The club also has a chapter in Washington DC. Three other chapters have been set up in Germany, Australia and Canada. We can therefore say that this is an international motorcycle gang, even if it remains very limited in terms of the number of active members. 👇
This motor club has very few rival gangs and does its best to preserve a good image with the law and the media. In March 1980, Bob Johnson, president of Free Souls MC, declared that the club was not involved in any illegal activity. He pointed out that the gang was not involved in the production and sale of narcotics (unlike many other major motorcycle clubs). This statement was made after four of its members were arrested on drug trafficking charges.
Free Souls Percussion and Colors
In contrast to other motorcycle gangs, the Free Souls MC sports a patch symbolizing life (not death). The central patch depicts an ankh on a motorcycle wheel with handlebars. The ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol representing the key to life. This hieroglyph is found in ancient writings on parchments. It’s very different from the famous skull found almost systematically among all outlaw motorcycle gangs! 💀
It’s a great way to show the world that the club stands up for life. It’s rare to see a motorcycle club with a logo that advocates life. The Free Souls MC stands out and stands out with this original patch. The club’s main colors are blue and white. Black can also be seen on the wheel and handlebar sleeves. This patch is quite elaborate and difficult to draw.
Blue is a soft color that inspires confidence. It represents the ocean, travel and distant horizons. White, meanwhile, symbolizes simplicity and purity. Once again, it’s clear that Free Souls MC conveys values of life and positivity through its patch. Its members are much “cooler” than those of other gangs. Originally, the idea was to have fun with friends and have a good time on the bikes, rather than engage in internal warfare! However, as we shall see, some members have tarnished this image…
Chapters and Members of the Biker Gang
Despite being considered one of the most dangerous clubs in the United States, the Free Souls MC is only a small group of 200 bikers… Compared to the Hells Angels MC, the Bandidos or the Outlaws MC, which have over 90 chapters each, the Free Souls MC is a very small club. The Oregon biker gang has no more than 10 chapters across the United States. Today, the number of members of this gang increases very little, as no club member is famous.
Marking Events
Several events have played an important role in the development of Free Souls Motorcycle Club. Some of these high-profile events include the following dates:
⇒ May 11, 1980: Mark Lesley, aged 27, was shot dead. He was vice-president of the Free Souls MC main chapter. Two hours after the shooting, the shooter is arrested by the police. He was not a member of the club, let alone a rival one.
⇒ September 1989: a fire ravages the Free Souls MC clubhouse in Eugene, Oregon. The fire is said to have been caused by oil-soaked rags during a renovation project. Property damage to the building is estimated at around $10,000 and loss of contents at around $15,000. 🔥
⇒ March 2010: the most significant event in the club’s history. As members of Free Souls MC and Gypsy Jokers MC gathered in Salem, Oregon, a house was about to catch fire. An SUV parked in this nearby house was going up in flames. Members quickly intervened to extinguish the flames. They used hoses to slow the flames and called in the fire department. That day, thanks to their heroic action, the house was saved. This event will forever be engraved in the annals of history.
Major Problems with Justice
As a 1% biker gang, the Free Souls MC has often had run-ins with the law. Here are some of the highlights:
⇒ March 2006: a SWAT team raids the Free Souls MC club in Washington. Law enforcement was looking for David Ambrose, a former member of the club, suspected of assaulting Ronald McComb in 1999. During the raid, methamphetamine was seized and 4 people were arrested. 😵
⇒ May 2, 2007: Local police and the ATF raided the homes of 3 Free Souls MC members. The operation uncovered ten stolen motorcycles, methamphetamine, marijuana and hash oil. All three members were arrested and charged with drug trafficking and theft.
⇒ April 05, 2018: 40-year-old Free Souls MC member Roger L. Heuberger has been charged with rape, kidnapping and disseminating videos of sexual assault of a woman. The arrest follows a woman’s statement that she had been sexually assaulted. This was not the first time this man had been arrested for assault and harassment. In June 2017, he had already been arrested in Marion County on similar charges. However, his criminal record does not mention any murders. 🩸
All these events show that this club is evolving on the bangs of society despite the initial desire of its founders to create a law-abiding, trouble-free club!
Club de Motards Hors-la-Loi
Let’s take a look at what an outlaw motorcycle club is, and why Souls are part of one by definition. These biker gangs have the particularity of not respecting the laws that govern the United States. They embody a sense of freedom taken to the extreme. These are groups of motorcyclists who favor big bikes such as Harley-Davidsons and Choppers. Very often, the only rules they follow and respect are those of the gang. ⚖️
In the United States, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) regulates the activities of motorcycle clubs. This non-profit organization was founded in 1924, but the majority of motorcycle clubs don’t abide by its rules or those of the government. Despite this, some gangs don’t consider themselves outlaws. On the contrary, they see themselves as groups that fully enjoy their freedom, considering it a fundamental right.
On the other hand, according to the US Department of Justice, every biker gang is considered a criminal organization. According to the Department of Justice, all biker clubs hide behind their association to commit crimes and engage in various trafficking (firearms, drugs, etc.). Every year, numerous criminal activities are attributed to biker clubs in the USA, Germany and Australia, forming a vast network of organized crime.
Biker Club Structure
All biker clubs follow a well-defined hierarchy. The most common organization is as follows:
- A president
- A vice-president
- A treasurer
- A secretary
- A road captain
- A sergeant-at-arms
Geographically localized groups of Motorcycle Clubs (MCs) are called chapters. The home chapter is called the mother chapter. The president of the mother chapter is the president of all MCs, and sets the rules for the entire club. 🤠
Larger clubs often own real estate which they use as clubhouse or private complex. To become a member (biker) in most motorcycle clubs, you have to go through several steps. Some clubs practice rites of passage and initiations. New members may be subjected to work tasks or pranks by older members. In rare cases, they may be required to commit acts of violence to prove their loyalty to the group.
There are also non-outlaw biker clubs, including female biker clubs. Female bikers use the same symbols, organizational structures and outfits as their male counterparts. The only difference is that they abide by the laws of the AMA and the state they’re in, which sets them apart from outlaw clubs.
Summary and Biker outfit:
Summary: the Free Souls MC, although composed of a limited number of members, is ranked among the most dangerous biker clubs in the USA. With its 200 members, it manages to distinguish itself and establish itself as a renowned biker gang. In contrast to the traditional death-oriented visual identity of biker clubs, the Souls adopt the Ankh symbol, which represents the love of life. They stand out both for their logo and for the good deeds they’ve been doing since their inception. 🙏
Now that you have an in-depth knowledge of this unusual biker club, congratulations! But knowledge isn’t enough to make a good biker… That’s why it’s time for you to adopt a biker outfit.
