McDaniel, who served as president for many years, was charged with a variety of crimes, including using a rotisserie to launder money and stealing motor vehicles (cars and motorcycles). On March 12, 2008, a federal grand jury in Detroit indicted four police officers and a member of the Highwaymen in connection with a 2007 drug trafficking investigation. Sean Donovan, a member of the group, had previously been jailed for theft of property. The four officers were also jailed for embezzlement.

The club was once affiliated with the American Motorcycle Association (AMA). But it became more outlaw than respectable, losing its status. In 2007, after more than 40 members were arrested for various offenses, the club was expelled from this prestigious association.
Charity
The gang’s activities are not limited to outlaw activities. In fact, it’s one of the few biker gangs belonging to the 1% group that carries out charitable actions. They strive to improve their image by organizing annual toy drives for children, which are then distributed to hospitals. 🙏
Other activities, such as helping the elderly or people in need, have been recorded in various states. However, it’s difficult for the most charitable members of the club to burnish the gang’s image when other members commit robberies, provoke fights or sell drugs. That’s why much of the population avoids dealing with anyone wearing the jacket with the club’s skull logo.
Condemnation of biker gang leader
Leonard “Papa” Moore was the senior leader of what prosecutors called “the largest and most violent motorcycle club.” His gang numbered some 100 members and several chapters in southeastern Michigan. However, after the conviction of a dozen members 14 years ago, the membership dwindled. Leonard was initially sentenced to life imprisonment, but the sentence was later reduced to 20 years. In July, Moore applied for his release on humanitarian grounds, citing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. 🫁
Although the sentence handed down was fair, the court felt that the threat posed by COVID-19 constituted grounds for modifying the sentence. The inmate was clearly among the most vulnerable. Moore’s release is part of a broader effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the federal prison system. More than 17,620 inmates have tested positive across the country. As a result, prison authorities have placed 7,709 inmates under home confinement. Moto Club Boozefighter also encountered similar problems.
Despite his release, Moore is not allowed to leave his home, except for medical and legal appointments. He will be placed under electronic monitoring. “We are very pleased with the court’s decision. Moore’s health issues are significant, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic,” wrote Robert Higbee, Moore’s attorney, in an email to The Detroit News. “We hope he will be quickly released home to his family.” 👇
Moore remains a dangerous man with a long criminal record, prosecutors said. He was sentenced to prison in 1977 after planting a bomb in a motorcycle club, accidentally killing an innocent bystander. Assistant District Attorney Robert Moran asked Judge Edmunds to keep Moore in prison.
His crimes have caused damage in southwest Detroit, the U.S. attorney wrote. “His release from prison would pose an imminent threat to the tranquility and peace of these neighborhoods,” Moran added. “Moore is an exceptionally dangerous individual; he controlled the criminal section of the motorcycle club, including assault, arson, obstruction of justice, witness intimidation, conspiracy to commit murder and drug trafficking,” the U.S. Attorney said.
