History of Road Knights MC

As previously mentioned, the club was founded in New Zealand, specifically in the town of Timaru, in 1979, at a time when the motorcycle industry was booming. The original idea of the founding members was to bring motorcyclists together, share good times with friends and promote values centered on motorcycling, family and brotherhood. 👊
Subsequently, numerous chapters were created around the world. In January 1986, the Road Knights chapter in Invercargill came into being. It is believed that this chapter was formed after the dissolution of the British Motorcycle Club (which was not an outlaw motorcycle club, unlike the Road Knights). The members of this club were mainly divided between the Road Knights and the Damned MC, leading to ongoing tension and conflict between the two groups over the years…

In 1995, the Dunedin chapter of the Road Knights was formed. In 2012, the club traveled to Thailand and opened a chapter in the coastal city of Pattaya, located around 90 kilometers south of Bangkok, the Thai capital. Subsequently, Road Knights USA was founded. Although information is hard to find, this probably happened in early to mid-2015. The first Road Knights USA chapter was located in Ohio.

Road Knights MC emblem

This Moto Club’s logo is particularly striking and elaborate, compared to other motorcycle clubs. It depicts a skeleton wearing a knight’s helmet, with two large swords (sometimes axes) behind him. It bears a strong resemblance to a knight’s coat of arms. Sometimes, blood is depicted on some models to add a striking touch… 🔴⚫️
As on every Motorcycle Club patch, the club name is written at the top, here presented in a circular arc. Next, the knight’s logo with fighter helmet is placed in the center. At the bottom, again in an arc, is the name of the chapter to which the member belongs. Some versions of the crest feature flames on the knight’s sides. The colors used are generally red and gray on a black background.

Road Knights use the abbreviation “RKFFRK”, which stands for “Road Knights Forever, Forever Road Knights”. This style of abbreviation is very common among outlaw motorcycle clubs. The idea is that every member is part of the family, so in times of trouble, they should be supported, and vice versa.

Famous Road Knights MC Members

Although there are no famous members in the popular sense (no superstars) among the Road Knights, some members have attracted media attention and made a name for themselves, sometimes negatively, sometimes positively. Let’s discover together the various personalities who have contributed to the MC’s fame through their actions. 🤠
⇒ Grant Percy: President of Invercargill’s Road Knights chapter in the mid-1990s, during clashes with the Black Power street gang. He was interviewed by the TV show 60 Minutes in the mid-1990s about tensions in Invercargill.

⇒ David Kenbrooke: Founding vice-president of the club. He’s an iconic figure who’s been in the news a lot about the MC since its inception. Indeed, David was a communications expert, and when it came to recruiting new members to grow the team, he didn’t hesitate to take to the stage at a huge rock concert wearing the club’s t-shirt, to promote it live on TV… A master stroke!

The Media Cases

There’s been a lot of media coverage of this biker gang. Indeed, some chapters have turned into real criminal organizations, sometimes to the gang’s satisfaction, sometimes less so… Let’s find out in detail: 🧐
⇒ August 1987: A member of the Damned MC is attacked by members of the Road Knights in Invercargill while riding his motorcycle. The Damned MC member dies in the confrontation. It is believed that this attack was the consequence of an earlier hit-and-run attempt involving the Road Knights. Three gang members were charged with murder, but the charges were eventually dismissed for lack of evidence.

⇒ October 1987: A bomb exploded in the Road Knights clubhouse in Invercargill. Four people were inside at the time, but none were injured.

⇒ June 19, 2008: The Road Knights clubhouse in Invercargill was set on fire. Members of the Mongrel Mob street gang, enemies of the Road Knights, went to the scene to observe the burning building and shouted slogans before being dispersed by police. Police then searched the nearby Mongrel Mob clubhouse and discovered two burning Harley-Davidson motorcycles, apparently belonging to the Road Knights. Four people were arrested after this incident and were sentenced by the courts.

⇒ November 28, 2013: A 10-month police investigation, dubbed “Operation Crimson”, concluded in the Invercargill area with the execution of 14 search warrants, resulting in 17 arrests, most of them linked to the Road Knights. Homes, motorcycles, drugs and nearly $40,000 were seized. A total of 195 charges were laid.

Enemies and allies of the Road Knights MC

Like any self-respecting gang, the Knights have made a good many enemies and friends over the years since the gang’s inception. Let’s find out the names of these biker gangs together.
The Road Knights are enemies of :

  • Devils Henchmen MC
  • The Damned MC
  • Bench Bike MC
  • Mongrel Mob (street gang)
  • Black Power (street gang)
  • Highwaymen MC

They’re also at loggerheads with any small groups wishing to oust bikers from the town they’re in. ❌ However, they are allied with certain groups:

  • Les Bandenkrieg (skinhead gang)
  • Les Vivaces MC

Members are willing to die for an allied gang. Brotherhood is at the heart of the group’s values; we never let a brother down.

Club House fire

Volunteer firefighters were confronted with a huge blaze when they arrived at the Road Knights Motorcycle Club on Heleeka Road in Hepburn Township, Pennsylvania, late one night in February 2020…. The one-storey building, which housed a bar, audio equipment and TVs, was engulfed in flames. The fire was reported around 11pm by two motorists who spotted the flames from the road. 🔥
The last person in the building was a club member earlier on Sunday morning, when the clubhouse was closed. No one was injured in the fire. It’s highly likely that this fire was of criminal origin, perhaps a revenge attack by a rival gang looking to strike the MC dead in its heart, in its place of origin.
